The eyes are one of the most important features on our face, and their appearance can dramatically affect how other people perceive us. As we age, the skin of the eyelids often becomes more lax and droopy, resulting in a tired and aged appearance. Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) can help minimize this problem.
Blepharoplasty is the procedure used to correct the appearance of drooping eyelids and can be performed on both the upper and lower lids. This procedure is quite painless and is usually done in the office setting without the need for deep anesthesia. The incision for the upper lid blepharoplasty is hidden in the natural upper eyelid crease. Lower lid blepharoplasty can be performed either with an incision just below the eyelash line or with and “incision-less” technique performed through the inside of the eyelid.
Recovery from blepharoplasty is usually minimal. As with any surgical procedure, there will always be some degree of swelling and bruising, but most patients do not require significant time off of work. Blepharoplasty can be performed in our procedure room at River Region Facial Plastics or at a surgery center.
Allow for one week downtime post-operatively. At River Region Facial Plastics we combine all of your needed pre-op visits, post-op visits, gentamyacin ointment, ice packs (Swiss Eye Therapy), TNS Eye Repair, Latisse and Colorscience Corrector Pallate into your bag of tricks which will aid in optimal recovery. We also recommend taking Vitamin C three times a day for two weeks before a procedure to give you the best chances of minimal bruising.
